Brush them once in the morning, 15-20 minutes after you’ve finished breakfast, and once before you go to bed. Ensure you don’t eat anything after you’ve brushed them.

Brush in irregular circular motions, trying to avoid a pattern. Use a timer so you know how long to brush your teeth for – about 2 minutes.

2. Get the Right Brush For You

Did you know a toothbrush is not a universal one-size-fits-all item? There are different types of toothbrushes for different types of teeth and different types of people. There are soft brushes, medium brushes, and firm or hard brushes.

Generally, most people need soft brushes especially if your dentist tells you you are brushing too hard. But some people do need a medium or harder brushes.

You also need to consider the size of your teeth. If you have small teeth then you might need a small brush to get in between the gaps and holes in your teeth. If you have big teeth then you’re going to need a larger toothbrush to cover your bigger teeth.

3. Go Electric and Embrace Tech

Electric toothbrushes are great for so many different reasons. They can get in between those small gaps better than a manual toothbrush and you don’t have to worry about the technique you just hoover your toothbrush over your teeth and it does the work for you.

But electric toothbrushes now also come with new technology. This includes apps on your phone that allows you to see a personal map of your teeth as you brush. The app can show you where you’ve brushed and where you’ve missed.

4. Go the Dentist for Regular Checkups

Another thing you can do to ensure that your teeth are spotless and to prevent cavities is to go to the dentist for regular checkups. There’s some evidence that neglecting dental hygiene can lead to cancer and heart disease.

The dentist can advise you on your dental hygiene and your teeth brushing technique. But they can also detect if you have root canal symptoms that need investigating.
