The demographic that YLS will be targeting is the suburban middle class residential market with larger than average yards. During year one of this business plan YLS will begin aggressively marketing to Johnís current development and expanding an already solid landscaping book of business. Much of this campaign will focus on the services that have already been provided throughout The Moors and highlighting the high level of quality and professionalism that was used using before and after photography. During the second year John will begin to use advertising in the local newspaper to generate additional business, along with some local internet advertising.

5.1 Sales Forecast

The first month of this business plan will be used to set up the home office and purchasing the necessary lawn care equipment, along with hiring and training one additional landscaping employee. The last two weeks of the month John will begin aggressively canvassing The Moors development to increase an already strong customer base. Month two will see some increased business levels. The business will continue to grow as John further pursues his marketing campaign within the current development. Month two through the end of October will see a steady rise in the revenue of YLS. Business will again pick up in year two during the month of April. From February to April John will be working on new account generation outside of The Moors development and expanding to other nearby developments. Also, two new additional employees will be brought on board to service the new landscaping accounts.

5.2 Milestones

There will be several significant milestones for YLS early on:

1. The completion of writing this new business plan. This will give YLS a roadmap for its new anticipated growth.

2. Setting up the new home office.

3. Signing up the 34th new client.

4. Annual revenue exceeding $25,000.

6.0 Management Summary

YLS is owned and operated by John Smith. John was first introduced to landscaping services while growing up in his parentís neighborhood (The Moors) that consisted of upper middle class families with larger than average yards. He started mowing lawns when he was ten and since that time has steadily grown his account base. It is now time to expand on several years of hard work and that was the purpose of writing this business plan.
