Many preachers go to college and take courses. Same as you would have to do to pursue any career choice. You may have to take special courses that go along with your denomination as well. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For your church to be legal there’s a lot of paperwork that needs to be filled out. You’ve got to apply for tax exemption (if you’re going that route), you’ll need an EIN, and incorporation documents. It can be a little overwhelming getting all of this together when you’re also trying to build a church family. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can take a lot of the work off yourself by hiring a lawyer. They’ll be able to walk you through the paperwork and look over it for you. This way everything is done correctly and no hang-ups occur. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Organize Regular Meetings at Home<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Starting a church with no members isn’t easy. You need to find a group of people who share your beliefs and hold fellowships at your house for a while. This will get you a following before you get the church up and running. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Name the Church<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Every church needs a name. Most of the time people use the name of their denomination plus their location. You don’t have to do this though.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Feel free to get creative as you want. As long as you avoid giving your church the same or close to the same name as another one in your area you’ll be fine. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
