Quality feed comes in the form of chaff,&nbsp; pasture, or hay. They must get adequate feed to stay healthy. A general guide for feed is&nbsp;1\u20132 kg per 100kg of body weight each day.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In some cases, supplemental feed is needed to keep the horse in good condition. Consider supplementary feed if your horse is showing signs of weakness, they are being regularly worked, or if they do not have pasture to graze.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is advised to provide a salt lick or mineral block in the paddock with your horse. Keep them well kept and clean and ensure that fences are in working order. Be mindful of things that could cause your horse to try and run away such as neighboring horses or other animals.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Health<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A farrier should trim your horse&#8217;s hooves every 6-8 weeks to avoid chipping or discomfort. If you will be taking your horse on rocky terrain shoes are a must.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Every 3-5 months horse&#8217;s teeth should be checked until age 5. Once the horse is over this age, an annual check-up with suffice.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Regular worming is important for the health of your horse. Keep manure to a minimum to help reduce worm infestations.
