Importance of Having an Official Contract

If you are a catering company, it is extremely important to make sure that you have an official contract drawn up for you and your clients. Having a solid contract in place will establish what services are to be delivered and also your quote for the party. It will also help determine when you can expect payment.

This form is also important for tax purposes. We recommend that you attach your invoice with your quote to the contract so that way the client has plenty of advanced notice in regards to what expect payment wise. Using a simple and generic word or pdf template will suffice when operating your catering business.

Wedding Catering Opportunities

Weddings are the best catering gigs because of the diversity and amount of money they can typically bring in. Advertising and getting these types of jobs can be difficult when first starting out, and you will probably need to reach out to friends and family to find good leads when first starting out.

The best way to monetize on catering is to include alcohol with your service. While liquor may require specific licensing, you may easily be able to provide beer and wine. The overall return on investment when serving alcohol for a wedding reception will be extremely high. Incorporating both food and beverage options into your services will lead to the best profit margins.

Business Catering

Business catering opportunities will be very similar to wedding catering jobs, however the may occur more often. While most people only get married once, businesses typically hold multiple events every year. If they are able to find a reliable company to provide these services, they can turn into multiple contracts.

Birthday Party Catering

Birthday Parties are another great area where you can earn significant income. However, you may need to provide different types of foods especially if it is a child’s birthday party. Make sure that you discuss what types of foods will be needed and make sure they are stated in your contract, prior to confirming service.
