How to Make Room Spray

Are you looking to save money and have a chance to smell delightful at the same time? Then it’s time you learn how to make a room spray.

There are dozens of varieties you can use to fabricate the smell of your home. You won’t have to worry about harsh chemicals or irritation from essential oils.

Not only can a homemade room spray help you stick to a clean house workout, but these snazzy little concoctions will make your home smell amazing. Not sure where to get started?

We’ve got the lowdown on creating a personalized room spray. Let’s dive in!

Choosing Your Scent

Consider what the room is being used for and which emotion should be evoked in the room. Do you want something energizing and floral or something calming and earthy?

Most recipes include witch hazel and distilled water, plus any additional fragrances that you would like to add. Additionally, you can use single essential oils, or you can mix several for a more complex scent.

Selecting the aromas may take some time and experimentation, but it’s all part of the fun.

Determine Your Preferred Volume

To determine your preferred volume of room spray, first, decide how strong you want your aroma to be. Generally, 1 ounce of essential or fragrance oil can scent 500 square feet.

If you want a more intense scent, aim for 2-4 ounces of essential or fragrance oil. However, if you like a lighter scent, aim for 1-2 ounces. Also, it is important to measure the room you plan to spray.

The size of the room will determine the total volume of the room spray you are making. Once the total volume is determined, fill the spray bottle half-way with water. Add the essential or fragrance oil, then top it off with more water if needed, then spray away!

Making a Room Spray With Food Grade Ethanol

Creating an air freshener with food-grade ethanol is a simple process that only requires a few ingredients. First, you will need to collect food-grade ethanol, which can be easily sourced from a local home improvement store.

Then, mix it with some essential oils of your choice in a glass spray bottle. Start with one tablespoon of essential oil for every 2 ounces of food-grade ethanol. Once mixed, shake the bottle well to ensure they are evenly distributed.

You can then spray your desired areas in your home or even wipe them onto furniture or linens to create a fresh scent. If you desire more aroma, you can use essential oil in the mixture, but be aware that it may stain surfaces if too much is used.

Finally, make sure to shake it before each use to ensure the ingredients stay mixed. For other recipes, you can find food grade ethanol available here. Try making some now, and don’t forget to share the results!
